  1.    The Home School Network is an educational tool developed to
  2. assist students whose primary source of educational experience is
  3. from non-traditional sources. 
  4.  
  5.    HSNet is a non-profit, non-partisan organization. There are no
  6. sales pitches, application fees, dues or subscriptions involved
  7. other than your BBS's normal user fee (if applicable).
  8.  
  9.    The Home School Network is expected to be on-line by the first
  10. of the year. Look for it on a BBS near you. For additional
  11. information on how your BBS can be a part of the Home School
  12. Network ask your Sysop to File Request (FREQ) the HSNet info
  13. package using the magic name HSNET from StarBase 1 at
  14. 1:3002/1@fidonet.

  23. HS_ART         HSNET ART - This conference is dedicated to
  24.                discussions concerning artistic expression,
  25.                methods, procedures, and exchange of techniques
  26.                and materials. 
  27.  
  28. HS_CAREERS     HSNET CAREERS - This conference is dedicated to
  29.                discussions concerning potential careers, job
  30.                descriptions, resumes, trades, and higher
  31.                education (colleges).
  32.  
  33. HS_CHALLENGED  HSNET CHALLENGED STUDENTS - This conference is
  34.                dedicated to discussions between students that
  35.                have had or are now experiencing what they
  36.                consider to be unusual hurdles to overcome.

  38. HS_COMPS       HSNET COMPOSITION - This conference is dedicated
  39.                to English Compositions, short stories, essays, or
  40.                papers subject to grading and comment by other
  41.                users. Discussions based solely on subject matter
  42.                is discouraged.

  44. HS_COMPUTER    HSNET COMPUTER - This conference is dedicated to
  45.                discussions concerning computer applications and
  46.                programs.

  48. HS_ENGBEG      HSNET BEGINNER ENGLISH - This conference is
  49.                dedicated to discussions concerning basic reading,
  50.                writing, spelling, and phonics at the "Dick and
  51.                Jane" level.

  53. HS_ENGADV      HSNET ADVANCED ENGLISH - This conference is
  54.                dedicated to discussions concerning the proper
  55.                written and oral rules, procedures and protocols
  56.                of the English language.

  58. HS_GEOGRAPHY   HSNET GEOGRAPHY - This conference is dedicated to
  59.                discussions concerning the earth's nations,
  60.                cities, and peoples.

  62. HS_KIDCHAT     HSNET STUDENT CHATTER - This area is used by
  63.                students for general chit-chat and pen-pals to
  64.                learn about different people and places.

  66. HS_MATHBEG     HSNET BEGINNERS MATH - This conference is
  67.                dedicated to discussions concerning elementary
  68.                arithmetic; addition, subtraction, multiplication
  69.                and division.

  71. HS_MATHINT     HSNET INTERMEDIATE MATH - This conference is
  72.                dedicated to discussions concerning more
  73.                complicated math concepts such as algebra and
  74.                geometry.

  77.                to discussions concerning advanced math concepts
  78.                like trigonometry and calculus.

  81.                dedicated to the discussion of developing and
  82.                maintaining a healthy body.

  84. HS_POLYSCI     HSNET POLITICAL SCIENCE - This conference is
  85.                dedicated to discussions concerning national and
  86.                international politics.

  88. HS_RELIGION    HSNET RELIGION - Religion has, and continues to
  89.                be, an important factor in the development of
  90.                society as we know it. The intent is not to
  91.                condone any one religious belief over another but
  92.                to provide a forum for students to discuss a
  93.                variety of religious ideas and beliefs and to
  94.                support the annihilation of religious prejudice
  95.                through knowledge.

  97. HS_SCIENCE     HSNET SCIENCE - This conference is dedicated to
  98.                discussions concerning the basic sciences such as
  99.                space, time, matter, gravity and chemistry as well
  100.                as biology, health, nature and other areas of
  101.                physiology.

  103. HS_USHIST      HSNET US HISTORY - This conference is dedicated to
  104.                discussions concerning the history of the United
  105.                States.

  107. HS_WORLDHIST   HSNET WORLD HISTORY - This conference is dedicated
  108.                to discussions concerning the history of the

  118.                various support groups, associations, conferences,
  119.                magazines, government agencies, publishers and
  120.                others who assist in the educational effort.
